April
April is a great month for paddle boarding. The average high is 73 degrees Fahrenheit and the average low is 59 degrees. The average water temperature is 66 degrees and it rains on average of five days in April. This all adds up to a comfortable time on the water, without dealing with excessive heat and excessive rainfall. The water temperature may be a bit too cool to enjoy for long periods of time, but it is not too cold to take an occasional dip in.
April is also prime season for bird watching. Many neotropical songbirds will begin their travel northward, passing over South Carolina in April. Also, it is prime time for nesting for many birds along the coast including the least tern. These birds typically nest on shelly beach flats. October
