June Events Near Folly Beach

Kids are finally out of school, summer has “unofficially” started, and the Charleston area is opening its doors to visitors from all over the globe. If you are visiting Charleston and looking for things to do outside of the typical attractions or are local looking for fun activities to do with friends and family during June, here are some of our picks for top events:

13th Annual Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival

The 13th Annual Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival will be held June 2nd from 9 am to 4pm at Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park. The event celebrates the Gullah Geechee heritage native to the Lowcountry and has the largest showcase sweetgrass baskets in the Lowcountry

Party in the Park

Party in the Park takes place every Tuesday in June and features of variety of top Country performers. The concerts are free to public and are held at Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park from 6pm to 9pm. Lawn chairs and blankets are permitted, but no dogs or coolers are allowed. The venue also recommends carpooling as parking is limited.

Jazz on the Harbor

Jazz on the Harbor will take place Friday, June 15th at the South Carolina Aquarium. The event features an open-air concert overlooking the Charleston Harbor with jazz music accompanying you as you stroll the Aquarium’s galleries. The event is 21 and up and tickets are $45 for non-members and $40 for members. Ticket prices include beer and wine, as well as, sustainably-sourced small plates from Good Catch partners.

Red, White, and Blue Jean Ball

The Palmetto Warrior Connection is hosting their Second Annual Blue Jean Ball at Founders Hall at Charlestowne Landing at 7pm. The event features drinks and a variety of signature dishes from Charleston area restaurants. The event will also a feature a silent auction. All proceeds from the event will benefit Palmetto Warrior Connection which helps local veterans transition from military to civilian life. Tickets are $50 for General Admission and $75 for VIP.

Charleston Rum Festival

Nothing says summer better than cocktail with rum. Attendees of the Charleston Rum Festival will be able to sample tastings form 16 area chefs, as well as, sip on 35 rum cocktails. The festival also features music by DJ Natty Heavy, a Barcardi Bat Cave, and the Blue Chair Bay Dance Floor. The event will be held Saturday, June 23rd at the Memminger Auditorium in downtown Charleston. Tickets are $45 for General Admission and $75 for VIP.

Charleston Carifest Caribbean Carnival

The Charleston Carifest Caribbean Carnival will take place June 21-June 24th at Brittle Bank Park in downtown Charleston. The Festival is in its thirteenth year and showcases the Caribbean culture with this year’s featured country is Cuba.
