We're back in Charleston after a month away!

Boardshorts to hooded wetsuits!

Happy Sunday! We returned back to Charleston this past week from our trip to Guatemala with The Warrior Surf Foundation. It was an amazing trip, but we're happy to be home! It was our first time in Guatemala so we were not exactly sure what we were getting into, but the country did not let us down. Andy was an amazing guide and showed us everything in El Paredon. We surfed so many different conditions while there! Our first week was around shoulder high, clean, playful and then for our second week the ocean went pretty flat. It was still rideable but I was nursing a back injury so opted to rest up for a few days. Lucky I did, our third week was filled with well overhead, heavy, and shallow days. It was so fun to be pushed outside our comfort zone, especially coming from Folly Beach where we rarely see "big" waves.

We are so grateful to be included in the Warrior Surf expedition to Guatemala this year! Andy organized a perfect trip with an amazing group of veterans who took their surfing to the next level. Watching everyone get outside their comfort zone in big waves was incredible. Looking forward to watching them apply their new wave knowledge to Folly.

While there we were able to help rebuild La Choza Chula garden so they could continue to grow and sell produce in order to support primary and secondary education for the local children and to educate the adult population on building and maintaining a sustainable economy. We also did some demo and renovation work at their headquarters and shop. I’m not sure Alex and Ben anticipated the efficiency and strength of our group.

Could not have asked for a better and more rewarding experience. Thank you Andy and to everyone who participated in this trip for letting us tag along. Beyond happy to be part of the Warrior Surf family! Looking forward to an incredible 2018 with you all. We're very happy to be back home and even happier that we caught our first swell of 2018 on Folly this weekend. Definitely took some adjusting to go from boardies to hooded full suits!

A few weeks in Guatemala surfing and doing community work with Warrior Surf. We came back with a lot of corrupted video files so we made due with what we had. Looking forward to next year!
